WiFi Drivers

Simplified – Wireless Fidelity or WiFi and a registered trademark of the Wi-Fi® Alliance, is more commonly known for being part of a computer as a wireless network.

WiFi has enabled people to be connected to the internet while on the go. It is no longer just a device that allows a user to be connected to the internet without wires at home, but allows for access outdoor in places known as Hotspots.

WiFi in the public market must conform to IEEE 802.11 standards, a certification that protects customers and business alike, and also maintains proper control over wireless transmissions that could cause mayhem if misused or accidentally used in the wrong place by a human user – such as at the airport where if certain frequencies are tapped could spell disaster for flight controllers and pilots in control of aircraft.

What happens if my wireless network device stops working?

There will be many reasons why a WiFi device can stop working, but one thing for certain the need to be able to get back online as quickly as possible for some people is great due to work or as a lifeline.

Of the vast amount of types of WiFi device on the market or installed into computers, there is an equally great amount of WiFi drivers to enable efficient and optimal performance of a wireless network.

In the case of a malfunctioning WiFi device, it would be good to keep a note of any error reports that flash up on screen. The fix could be as simple as switching your computer off and back on, or slightly more complicated which may need you to resort to using a WiFi device driver to get you back on the internet as quickly as possible.

If you do not have a WiFi Driver disk to reinstall your device or repair errors, then you should search out your model version on the manufacturer’s website. This is by far the easiest way of tracking down the correct software or firmware to enable full operation of your WiFi device.

If your WiFi device cam as part of your computer you can find your model number and manufacturer on a sticker at the base of your computer.

Just go to the manufacturer’s website and search their list of WiFi Drivers by inputting your model number in the search bar, or picking out your device download from the list of drivers.

In some instances if a computer is new such as Dell for example, you should only have to enter your Product identification Number found on the base of your machine. This will generate a list of all the devices, available updates and device drivers – easy!

If you cannot find your WiFi Driver on the manufacturer’s website, it could have been rendered obsolete or not available at the time of asking. In this case you should use a search engine to try and track down your driver.

Once you have found your WiFi Driver, download it to your computer and open it. (You may need to unzip the file first using a zip-drive).

Once you have followed the installation instructions and finished the setup procedure your device should be enabled.

If you still have trouble with your WiFi device at this point, you should take your computer to a technician, use your warranty if your computer is new or contact the manufacturer of the WiFi device and ask if they have a solution to your problem.
